THE WARD EIGHT LITTLE LEAGUE
Ward Eight Little League is a chartered member of Little League International. Little League has over 180,000 teams throughout the United States and within 53 other countries. We are a non-profit organization with geographical jurisdictions east of the Anacostia River in Ward 8 of Washington, D.C.
Our mission is to provide youth with a safe, fun and family-oriented program that demonstrates the ideals of good sportsmanship, character, teamwork, courage, and respect. Ward Eight Little League was founded with the intention of providing a safe, fun and competitive place for the youth of our area to play baseball and grow into young men and women with a strong sense of community. Our program assures every player with a great experience, regardless of ability and skill.
Ward Eight Little League prides itself on providing competitive, but fair play. Our season runs from the beginning of March until mid-June with an average of 15 games. All players are included in the batting order and we implement fair play rules so that every child receives equal playing time. We allow players that assess at higher skill levels, to play up one age level. We invest in pre-season coaches and player training so that your child receives quality instruction during practices and games. We provide Little League certified umpires to officiate all games. Our board members volunteer all year to provide a great experience for your player and your family.
Post-season play continues into the summer. Teams are selected through a voting system that accounts for players performance every game. There is no room for politics in our all-star selection process! We send teams that have a chance to play on through state and regional competitions and then to make it to the best competition in the world – the Little League World Series! Welcome to our family – can’t wait to see you on the fields.
